Alexander Mundinger was born in Freiburg, Germany. He is a specialist in internal medicine and radiology. His habilitation at the University of Freiburg focused on MRI of rheumatic disorders. Professor Alexander Mundinger was head of the Department of Radiology at the academic Niels-Stensen Clinics; Marienhospital Osnabrueck since October 1995, where he earned a reputation in senology, general radiology, interventional radiology and cardiac MRI. In addition, Professor Mundinger was director of the Radiological Center of Niels-Stensen-Clinics and head of the Section of Breast Imaging and Minimal Invasive Procedures in the certified Breast Centre Osnabrück located in Franziskus Hospital in Georgsmarienhuette. He held the position of President from 2005 to 2011 at the International Breast Ultrasound School (IBUS), President of Senologic International Society (SIS) for the tenure of 2015-16 and continues acting as auditor of SIS. Professor Mundinger is founding member of DEGUM-level-3 breast ultrasound working group and serves as German national consensus expert of all imaging modalities. He is honorary member of several medical societies due to his scientific merits. Since 2020 he has dedicated himself exclusively to senology.
