SIS in a few words

The SIS was founded in 1976 in Strasbourg (France). Today, the SIS is a unique worldwide federation of more than a hundred learned or scientific societies, associations and groups, located in 5 continents, with a priority mission: to improve breast health by constantly putting the patient in the center of its concerns. It is a society turned towards the future with a particular focus on innovation, transdisciplinarity and contribution of digital technology.

Letter of the President, Professor Schlomo Schneebaum

Dear colleagues, dear friends,

This is my second year of presidency, and I am happy to say that we can look back with great pleasure and honor at some of our achievements.

But I am also looking forward to this coming year and to the future, and I hope that we will be able to develop some ideas that will be translated into plans

This year we managed to recover from the Covid epidemy, and after many difficulties, we succeeded to convene the 21st World Congress on Rhodes Island from May 3rd to May 6th.

We had participants from 5 continents and 25 countries. It was a high-quality congress thanks to the speakers, chairmen, and the organizing and scientific committee.

We had a board meeting and general assembly meeting that resulted in suggested changes in our bylaws that were presented by our bylaws committee. They were approved and will be presented at ournext board meeting. We hope they will result in bringing back member societies.

We have a new website, working and flourishing. An our journal (EJBH)had achieved a higher impact factor and included several new SIS articles, like DCIS, and Elderly Women, to name a few.

We had some local and regional meetings supported by SIS.and we had a successful Webinar and looking forward to the next one.

In the last board meeting, we started to define the role of the regional vice presidents, and we will progress with this in our next board.

We are looking at the basis of our connection with BCN and are trying to find a better solution.

Our fellowship committee is still working, but the many requirements are pushing for an earlier start.

All this would not be possible without our dedicated board members, and I am using this opportunity to thank them all.

Our next board meeting takes place in Strasbourg on October 10th;we need your suggestions for new board members and for a President-Elect.

Please write to me if you have any concerns or new suggestions for SIS.

Yours sincerely,
